Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 in Mumbai on May 1, 2025, emphasizing the need to safeguard young generations from tendencies that oppose humanism. Addressing a diverse audience of film industry celebrities and content creators, PM Modi highlighted the potential of India’s creative sector to drive economic growth and announced plans for future initiatives like the WAVES awards, marking a significant step in promoting the country’s audio-visual and entertainment industries.

PM Modi’s Call to Protect Youth at WAVES Summit

During his inaugural address at the WAVES Summit 2025, PM Modi stressed the importance of shielding the youth from ideologies that undermine humanistic values. “We need to save young generations from tendencies against humanism,” he said, urging content creators to produce work that inspires positivity and unity. The summit, a first-of-its-kind event in India as per the PMO, aims to position India as a global hub for media and entertainment, with PM Modi promising further initiatives like the WAVES awards to recognize excellence in the field.

India’s Content Creation as an Economic Driver

PM Modi spoke at length about the transformative power of India’s content creation industry, describing it as a key driver for an economic boom. He highlighted the capabilities of Indian content creators, noting their potential to elevate India’s global cultural and economic standing. The WAVES Summit 2025, hosted in Mumbai, features an extensive program with 42 plenary sessions, 39 breakout sessions, and 32 masterclasses, covering sectors like broadcasting, infotainment, AVGC-XR, films, and digital media, fostering collaboration and innovation.

PM Modi’s Multi-State Tour for Development Projects

In addition to the summit, PM Modi embarked on a two-day tour across Maharashtra, Kerala, and Andhra Pradesh on May 1 and 2, 2025. On May 2, he will inaugurate the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport in Kerala, a landmark project for maritime trade. In Andhra Pradesh’s Amaravati district, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth over ₹58,000 crore, aimed at boosting infrastructure and economic growth in the region.
