India’s audacious Operation Sindoor saw the IAF jam Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defenses, striking nine terror camps with precision in just 23 minutes. The operation, a response to the Pahalgam attack, showcased India’s military prowess and regional dominance.

New Delhi: The Indian Air Force (IAF) executed a stunning military operation, dubbed Operation Sindoor, between May 7 and 10, 2025, targeting nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation was launched in retaliation for the April 22, 2025, terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed 26 civilian lives, mostly Hindu tourists. By jamming Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defense systems, including the HQ-9 and LY-80, the IAF completed its mission in just 23 minutes, demonstrating India’s technological superiority and strategic resolve.

    Precision Strikes and Indigenous Tech
The IAF’s strikes obliterated key terror infrastructure, including Jaish-e-Mohammed’s headquarters in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s base in Muridke, killing at least 100 terrorists. India’s indigenous systems, such as the Akash missile, BrahMos, and loitering munitions, played a pivotal role. Supported by ISRO’s real-time satellite surveillance, the operation showcased India’s “Make in India” defense capabilities. No Indian assets were lost, and the strikes were politically calibrated to avoid escalation while sending a clear message to Pakistan.

    Regional Implications and Chinese Setback
Operation Sindoor exposed vulnerabilities in Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defenses, embarrassing Beijing and raising doubts about its military hardware reliability. India’s multi-layered air defense grid, including S-400 and Barak-8 systems, neutralized Pakistan’s retaliatory drone and missile attempts. The operation also heightened India’s concerns about regional stability, particularly in Bangladesh, where the ban on Sheikh Hasina’s Awami League could create a political vacuum, potentially fostering extremism and cross-border threats.

    Ceasefire and Strategic Message
An uneasy ceasefire was established on May 10 after hotline talks between Indian and Pakistani military officials, though Pakistan attempted minor violations with drones. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, visiting Adampur air base, declared a “new normal” in India’s anti-terror policy, emphasizing zero tolerance for attacks. The operation not only crippled terror networks but also reinforced India’s role as a regional security anchor, with defense exports reaching ₹23,622 crore in FY 2024-25.

Operation Sindoor marks a defining moment for India’s defense strategy, blending indigenous innovation with decisive action. As regional tensions persist, India’s resolve to counter terrorism and ensure stability, including in Bangladesh, remains unwavering, shaping a secure future.
