“Saugat-e-Modi” Scheme: A Special Eid Gift for the Muslim Community

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again made headlines with his latest initiative, the “Saugat-e-Modi” scheme. Under this program, economically weaker Muslim families will receive a special kit on the occasion of Eid. The initiative has sparked a nationwide debate—Is this a genuine effort to help the poor, or a strategic move ahead of the elections?

The BJP has launched this campaign, aiming to distribute Eid kits to 32 lakh underprivileged Muslims across the country. The party’s minority wing will oversee the distribution, ensuring that every identified mosque reaches at least 100 beneficiaries. The BJP national president, J.P. Nadda, is personally monitoring the campaign.

    What’s Inside the “Saugat-e-Modi” Kit?

The special Eid gift kit contains essential items such as:
✔️ Traditional clothing (suits for women, kurta-pajama for men)
✔️ Food items like rice, lentils, sugar, dry fruits, dates, and vermicelli
✔️ Cooking essentials like mustard oil

The estimated cost of each kit is around ₹500-₹600, making it a substantial aid for low-income families.

    Political Reactions

Opposition parties have reacted strongly to the scheme. While BJP leaders have hailed it as “true service to the poor,” opposition leaders have dismissed it as a “political gimmick.”

🔹 Samajwadi Party’s Akhilesh Yadav criticized the move, calling it an election stunt.
🔹 BSP Chief Mayawati accused BJP of exploiting festivals for political gains.
    🔹 TMC’s Kirti Azad compared BJP’s approach to a crocodile’s fake tears.
🔹 Congress MP Imran Masood welcomed the move but insisted that Muslims need “education, healthcare, and security” rather than just festival gifts.

With elections around the corner, the big question remains—Will Saugat-e-Modi change the political dynamics, or will it be seen as just another election strategy? Only time will tell!
