Medanta Technician Arrested for Assaulting Air Hostess on Ventilator
Deepak Kumar, an ICU technician, digitally raped a semi-conscious flight attendant in a horrific breach of hospital ethics and law.
Gurugram: In a disturbing case, Deepak Kumar, a technician working in the ICU of Medanta Hospital, was arrested for sexually assaulting a 46-year-old air hostess who was semi-conscious and on a ventilator.
The incident, which occurred on April 6, came to light when the woman lodged a police complaint on April 14. She stated that she was in a vulnerable state when the accused digitally raped her while two nurses were present in the room but did nothing to stop the assault.
An SIT led by DCP Dr Arpit Jain was formed, and the suspect was identified using footage from over 800 CCTV cameras and extensive staff interrogation. Deepak Kumar, originally from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, had joined Medanta five months earlier.
A case has been registered under appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the accused will be produced before a magistrate for remand.
