J&K Lieutenant Governor Summons Special Assembly Session on April 28 to Address Pahalgam Attack

Special Session Called in Response to Pahalgam Terror Attack

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has summoned a one-day special session of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on April 28 to discuss the recent Pahalgam terror attack. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists, in the Baisaran meadow, prompting widespread condemnation and calls for action.

Official Summon Issued for April 28 at 10:30 A.M.

As per the order issued on Friday, April 25, by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, the Legislative Assembly will convene at Jammu on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:30 A.M. The summon, authorized under Section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, states:
“I, Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in exercise of the powers conferred upon me under section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, do hereby summon the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly to meet at Jammu on Monday, the 28th of April, 2025 at 10:30 A.M.”

    Assembly Members Requested to Attend

The Secretary of the J&K Legislative Assembly issued an order emphasizing attendance:
“Accordingly, in terms of rule 3 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, all the Members are requested to kindly attend the Session of the Legislative Assembly on the appointed date, time and place.”

Council of Ministers Urged the Special Session

The decision to hold the special session follows a request from the council of ministers, led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, in the wake of the Pahalgam attack. The council condemned the attack as a “barbaric and cowardly act,” highlighting the need for a unified response to address the security concerns and ensure justice for the victims.
