BJP Worker Found Hanging in Bengaluru; Video Message Names Local Party Leader

Anekal police arrest two after Praveen Kumar’s 14-minute Facebook video blames BJP local leader and others for his death.

Bengaluru: A 35-year-old BJP worker, Praveen Kumar, was found hanging from a tree behind a school in Anekal, on the southern outskirts of Bengaluru, on Friday morning. Prior to his suspected suicide, Kumar recorded a 14-minute video, naming several individuals—including a local BJP leader—and alleging harassment, assault, and threats related to a financial dispute.

In the video, uploaded to his Facebook profile, Kumar appealed for justice and stated that the accused tried to implicate him in a false drug case. “Don’t spare Kiran,” he said, naming Kiran Gowda along with Srinivasa Babu, Harish from Gokula Fashion, Bhaskar Narayanappa, Madhu Gowda, Bhagya, Muniraju Gowda, and Saravana.

Police have arrested Kiran Gowda and Harish. The FIR, filed by Kumar’s father, includes charges of abetment to suicide. While police ruled out political or financial motives, they cited a personal feud involving one suspect’s brother as a potential trigger.
