Will Tejashwi Yadav Be Bihar’s CM Face? RJD Leader’s Statement After Rahul-Kharge Meeting

Patna: As Bihar gears up for the year-end Assembly elections, key opposition leaders from the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) held a crucial meeting in Delhi to discuss their alliance strategy. The meeting was attended by Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and party chief Mallikarjun Kharge, while RJD was represented by Tejashwi Yadav and Manoj Jha.

Tejashwi Yadav’s Statement on CM Face

After the meeting, Tejashwi Yadav, Bihar’s former Deputy CM and RJD leader, dismissed concerns over the opposition’s chief ministerial candidate, saying:

    • “I don’t know why everyone is so worried about the CM face. We will decide. One thing is certain—there will be no NDA government in Bihar.”
    • He criticized the NDA’s 20-year rule, citing Bihar’s low per capita income, farmer distress, and high migration rates.
    • “Nitish Kumar has been hijacked (by BJP). We will expose the government’s failures and fight the elections on these issues.”

    Kharge’s Take on the Alliance

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed confidence in the opposition’s prospects:

    • “Change is certain in Bihar this time. We discussed strengthening the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance) with Tejashwi Yadav.”
    • He promised a “strong, just, and welfare-driven alternative” to BJP’s “opportunistic alliance.”

Bihar’s Electoral Battle: NDA vs Mahagathbandhan

The upcoming elections will see a high-stakes contest between:

    • NDA: Led by CM Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and BJP.
    • Mahagathbandhan: Comprising RJD, Congress, and Left parties.

    Past Election Trends:

    • 2010: Congress contested all 243 seats but won only 4, securing just over 8% votes.
    • 2015: When JD(U) allied with RJD-Congress, Congress won 27 of 41 seats (6.7% vote share).
    • 2020: After Nitish rejoined NDA, Congress won 19 of 70 seats (9% vote share).

    Why It Matters

The opposition’s unity and Tejashwi’s aggressive campaign against NDA’s governance could shape Bihar’s political landscape. The CM face question remains open, but the alliance is banking on anti-NDA sentiment to sway voters.

    Key Improvements:

    1. Clearer Headings: Structured for better readability.
    2. Direct Quotes: Emphasized key statements from leaders.
    3. Contextual Data: Added past election results for perspective.
    4. Concise Yet Comprehensive: Retained all critical details while improving flow.
