Pakistani security expert Imtiaz Gul’s sensational revelation, America’s “Nuclear Command Center” is in Nur Khan Airbase

New Delhi: Imtiaz Gul, a prominent Pakistani journalist and security analyst, has recently made claims suggesting that the United States maintains operational control over Pakistan’s Nur Khan Airbase. These assertions have stirred considerable debate within Pakistan, given the airbase’s strategic importance and its proximity to sensitive military installations.

Historical Context of U.S. Presence at Nur Khan Airbase
PAF Base Nur Khan, formerly known as Chaklala Airbase, has historically been a significant hub for the Pakistan Air Force (PAF), serving roles in logistics, VIP transport, and strategic operations. Over the years, the base has also been utilized by the United States for various military operations, particularly during the early 2000s.

Following the 2005 earthquake in Pakistan, approximately 300 U.S. troops and aircraft were deployed to Chaklala to assist in relief efforts. Additionally, reports indicate that since late 2001, the U.S. maintained a permanent military presence at the base to handle logistics and movements related to the war in Afghanistan.

    Current Status and Controversy
While historical data confirms past U.S. utilization of Nur Khan Airbase, there is no publicly available evidence to suggest that the United States currently exercises operational control over the facility. The base remains under the ownership and operation of the Pakistan Air Force, specifically controlled by the Federal Air Command.

The controversy surrounding Imtiaz Gul’s claims underscores the complexities of Pakistan-U.S. military relations and the sensitivities involved in foreign military presence on Pakistani soil. Given the strategic significance of Nur Khan Airbase, any assertions regarding foreign control are likely to provoke public and political scrutiny.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Pakistan Ministry of Defence or the Pakistan Air Force addressing these specific claims. Further investigations and official statements would be necessary to substantiate or refute the allegations made by Imtiaz Gul.
