New Delhi: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, addressing troops at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday, called for Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal to be placed under International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) supervision. His remarks followed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent stern warning to Islamabad. Singh highlighted Pakistan’s reckless nuclear threats, emphasizing the need for global oversight to prevent misuse by an “irresponsible and rogue nation.” He praised the Indian Army’s precision and resolve, noting their success in neutralizing threats despite Pakistan’s nuclear posturing.
Operation Sindoor’s Historic Success: Singh lauded Operation Sindoor as India’s largest counter-terror operation, showcasing the nation’s unwavering commitment to dismantling cross-border terror networks. He congratulated the troops for their dominance along the Line of Control (LoC) and for destroying Pakistani posts during the recent conflict. The operation, conducted under PM Modi’s leadership, targeted nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Singh also inspected recovered Pakistani shells at Badami Bagh, underscoring the intensity of the four-day clash between May 7 and May 10.
No Talks Without Focus on Terrorism: The Defence Minister firmly stated that dialogue with Pakistan is impossible unless it centers on terrorism and PoK. He highlighted the unified resolve of Jammu and Kashmir’s people against Pakistan’s aggression, crediting them for supporting India’s anti-terror stance. Singh’s visit, days after a ceasefire agreement, reinforced India’s doctrinal shift toward proactive measures against terrorism. He also praised Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi for leading the Chinar Corps’ efforts in maintaining LoC dominance.
