🇮🇳 After Pahalgam Attack, Centre Orders Crackdown on Pakistani Nationals

In the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror strike, the Indian government has launched an aggressive diplomatic and internal security response, including visa cancellations and deportation orders for Pakistani nationals residing in India.

🔍 States Told to Track and Deport

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has directed all Chief Ministers to identify Pakistani nationals living in their states and ensure their immediate return after cancelling their visas. The directive, issued through Home Secretary Govind Mohan, follows a high-level meeting with state leadership.

    🛂 1,112 Long-Term Visas Under Scrutiny

Between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2024, the Ministry of Home Affairs granted 1,112 Long-Term Visas (LTVs) to Pakistani minorities. These individuals now face visa review, and many are expected to be affected by the current deportation drive.

    🌍 Diplomatic Ties Downgraded

India has taken a hard line against Pakistan, suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, expelling Pakistani diplomats and defence personnel, shutting the Attari-Wagah border, and cancelling all Pakistani visas. Nationals were given just 48 hours to leave the country.

    🛡️ Borders on High Alert

India shares a 3,323-km-long land border with Pakistan, which has seen repeated infiltration and smuggling incidents. Security forces have been ordered to heighten surveillance and increase deployment along critical areas.

    🎯 Multi-Layered Counter-Infiltration Strategy

Officials in Jammu & Kashmir said the region has endured decades of Pakistan-backed terrorism. India’s countermeasures include advanced border fencing, upgraded tech for forces, coordinated intelligence sharing, and proactive anti-terror operations across the Valley.
