Number of Pakistani, Bangladeshi citizens living in India increased under BJP rule: Shiv Sena (UBT)
Mumbai, April 28, 2025 – The Shiv Sena(UBT), through its mouthpiece Saamana, criticized the BJP-led Central government for the increasing number of Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals in India during its tenure. The editorial raised concerns over national security and questioned the government’s border management following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Surge in Infiltrators Under BJP Rule
The Saamana editorial highlighted a significant rise in Pakistani and Bangladeshi nationals living in India during the BJP’s governance. It accused the government of inaction, noting that despite a recent deportation drive following the Pahalgam attack, thousands of Pakistani citizens remain in the country. The editorial questioned why such a large number of individuals from an “enemy country” were allowed to enter and live across India, with 5,023 reported in Maharashtra alone, including 2,458 in Nagpur, the RSS headquarters.
Security Concerns and Government Inaction
Shiv Sena(UBT) raised alarms over the security implications, pointing out that many Pakistani nationals are living with expired visas or without valid documents. The editorial cited figures—30,000 in Rajasthan, 5,000 in Delhi, and over 1,000 in Thane—questioning how infiltrators bypassed border security. It criticized the government for only acting after the Pahalgam attack, asking, “How did the Prime Minister, who calls himself the people’s watchman, allow this?”
Contradictions and Missing Nationals
The editorial pointed to discrepancies within the Maharashtra government, where the Chief Minister claimed no Pakistani nationals were missing, while the Deputy CM and Minister of State reported 107 unaccounted for. Shiv Sena(UBT) questioned the government’s credibility, asking, “If there’s no consensus on such a sensitive matter, how can it function?” It also called for a thorough investigation into the legal status and origins of these nationals.
