The new lexicon in world politics ‘Deep State’, first used in 1997 as traced by Webster Dictionary, became a global talking point during the Donald Trump regime as US President. Recently, Trump again raised the issue during his election speeches which drew the attention of the world. Recently, a few world figures, not only admitted to the presence of the deep state in their parts of the world but also names cropped up who are supposedly the main players of the deep state. It is believed that America’s State Department worked at the behest of the deep state.
After Mark Zuckerberg’s admission recently of working for the deep state, the world was surprised. Except a few hundred who already knew about the deep state or were a party to it.
Does it control politics and governments? And does it have any impact on the politics of India and Bangladesh? New Delhi Post Journalist Nitish Kumar digs deep into the subjects and brings out some astounding observations.
The deep state, is an idea in which it is believed that there are some hidden powerful groups beyond the public structures of a country’s government. Which influence national policy, government decisions, and the electoral process. These groups are often a nexus of the military, intelligence agencies, and large business organizations with global presence.
Apart from this, it is also said that to serve the interest of the deep state, officers of the US State department, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Donald Lu, State Department diplomat Victoria Nuland, in many countries, where there is not a favourable government of the deep State, organised regime changed operations. Meanwhile, businessmen like George Soros and his son Alex Soros who have global presence professionally, are also part of the deep state. It is also alleged that Soros also operates through his NGO, Open Society Foundations.

In terms of Bangladesh, where the influence of the ‘deep state’ has been discussed from a long time now, many political analysts opine that the deep state played a major role in bringing down the government of Bangladesh under Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and later constituting an interim government under Mohd Yunus who has never been a part of the political system. His sudden homecoming followed by a major crackdown on the Bangladeshi population and joining the government as an interim head gave a clear indication of ‘outside role’ in constituting the Bangladeshi government. That outside role was played by the Deep State.
According to the insiders, there is a powerful nexus in Bangladesh, which includes the army, intelligence agencies and external elements, which was secretly working for regime change. Political instability was created in collusion with the other opposition parties to weaken the Sheikh Hasina’s government.
In terms of India, in the last Lok Sabha elections, It is said that deep state has made a untiring effort to topple the Modi government. According to some theories, external interference in Indian elections increased and attempts were made to exert influence through cyber-attacks, media propaganda, and secret alliances between political parties.

The allegations spread about RAW agent Vikas Yadav was part of a deep conspiracy, the real objective behind the allegation was to destroy India’s emerging power in the world. This story started when India purchased S-400 missile system from Russia despite American pressure against the procurement.
America pressurised India to cancel the Russian defence deal and procure it from the Americans. But India considered its urgency for national security bought this system from Russia itself. This move angered America even more. From here the rift between the two countries deepened. Followed by India’s wish to procure crude oil from Russia. Despite the fact that sanctions were imposed on Russia by several countries due to the Ukraine Crisis. India took this decision for its energy needs and economic strength.
At the same time, India also began developing Iran’s Chabahar port, a move that changed the geopolitical situation in South Asia. America was upset with all such incidents and also warned India against such ‘misadventures’, but India firmly stood on its ground.
Several decisions of the Modi government which were in direct interest of the nation, were a matter of concern for the American establishment. During that course of time, India made a deal for Rafale aircraft from France instead of the American fighter aircraft Super Hornet A18 directly against the American interest.
These decisions of the Modi government became a cause of discomfort for America, and America decided to convert its displeasure into a political conspiracy. It is said that under a secret strategy of the American deep state, America started the game of destabilizing India. The aim of this conspiracy was to dethrone the Modi government. And bring in a government which can work closely on the lines of the American Establishment. Till then nobody was sure of President elect Trump’s return to power and blow the lid over the deep state establishment.
America wanted to control India’s policies and diplomatic moves and to create instability in India, Manipur unrest and Jammu crisis may have been an outcome of the deep state’s strategy to pressurise India.
Incidents which directly challenges the India’s security, were periodically ‘created’ under the behest of the deep state so that political unrest continues unabated which can picture Modi government as weak paving way for the change in the government in the next Lok Sabha Elections which were due.
On October 16, 2024, an Indian delegation submitted a report to the US State Department, in which it was clearly stated that Vikas Yadav no longer works in the Government of India.
The report also revealed that efforts have been made to spread instability in India by using propaganda and mediums like Washington Post. The main role behind this conspiracy was played by the American deep state, whose roles included US National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and CIA chief William Burns.
It is believed that all these American officials are the characters of deep state conspiracy against India to create political and economic unrest by interfering into the internal affairs of India.

It is said that except Vivek Ramaswamy, Tulsi Gabbard, Donald Trump and a few others, the entire political set up in America had been either a part of the deep state or had deep rooted knowledge about the working of the deep state.
Be it the purchase of S-400 missiles, India’s own Covid vaccine manufacturing, purchase of oil from Russia, or the development of Chabahar port, America’s Democratic government has acted as a pawn of the deep state.
However, after Donald Trump comes to power in January 2025, the deep state conspiracy against India is expected to cease. The reason behind this is that deep state also troubled Trump while he was out of power. Before being elected President for the second time, Trump had said that either he would destroy the deep state, or the deep state would destroy him.
Money controls the mighty and the powerful controls the monetary system. According to experts the financial resources of the deep state runs around five hundred trillion, though a few experts say that it is almost impossible to know its worth as it works secretly. An organised secret system with whirlpool of money is enough to bring in fissures in a democratic set up and create a political unrest.
