In a significant development, the 2008 Malegaon blast case verdict has been postponed to July 31, 2025, providing relief to former Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur. The special NIA court will deliberate on the sentencing of all accused. The nation awaits the final judgment.

Court Defers Verdict to July 31
By Our Correspondent, New Delhi: The special NIA court in Mumbai has deferred the verdict in the 2008 Malegaon blast case to July 31, 2025, seeking additional time from the Bombay High Court to finalize sentencing. The blast, which occurred on September 29, 2008, in Malegaon, Maharashtra, killed six people and injured 101. Sadhvi Pragya Thakur, a key accused, appeared in court and, while speaking to the media, stated, “Satyamev Jayate” (Truth Alone Triumphs).

2008 Malegaon Blast: A Tragic Attack
The Malegaon blast, a terrorist attack in 2008, shook the nation, claiming six lives and leaving 101 injured. Initially investigated by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2011. The NIA conducted an in-depth probe, gathering evidence to support the trial.

Sadhvi Pragya Thakur Faces Serious Charges
Former Bhopal MP Sadhvi Pragya Thakur is among the prime accused, facing charges of terrorist conspiracy, murder, and inciting religious unrest. Alongside her, Lieutenant Colonel Prasad Purohit and 10 others are also accused. The court is evaluating evidence to determine their culpability.

All Eyes on July 31 Verdict
The court summoned all accused for a hearing on Tuesday, but due to delays, the verdict was postponed. The July 31 decision will determine the fate of the accused, including whether Sadhvi Pragya Thakur will be convicted. The case remains a focal point of national attention.

Case Transferred from ATS to NIA
The investigation, initially led by the Maharashtra ATS, was transferred to the NIA for a thorough probe. The NIA presented critical evidence in court, shaping the judicial process. The verdict is expected to set a precedent in India’s judicial history.
