At $31 million, the Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail redefines luxury with its unparalleled design and features, making it a masterpiece in the automotive world.
London: British luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce unveiled its most expensive car to date, the Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail, in March 2024, surpassing the previous record holder, the Rolls-Royce La Rose Noire Droptail. With its jaw-dropping price and exceptional features, this car has set a new benchmark in the world of luxury automobiles.
A Price Tag That Stuns
The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail is priced at a staggering $31 million, equivalent to approximately ₹257 crore, outshining the La Rose Noire Droptail’s ₹249.48 crore price tag. This two-seater roadster, limited to just four units, was delivered to a client in a special ceremony in Singapore. In India, its price could exceed ₹500 crore after taxes and import duties, as speculated in some social media discussions.
Design Inspired by Uniqueness
The Arcadia Droptail draws inspiration from Formula 1 racing cars, featuring a sleek roadster body and a monocoque chassis made of aluminum and carbon fiber. Its exterior resembles a high-tech luxury yacht. The rear deck boasts 233 pieces of Santos Straight Grain rosewood, which took over 8,000 hours to craft. The dashboard houses a custom clock, the most complex ever made by Rolls-Royce, requiring two years of research and five months of assembly.
A Blend of Luxury and Performance
Powered by a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine, the Arcadia Droptail delivers 563 bhp and 820 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds. The interior features over 1,600 hand-placed wooden pieces and a champagne chest that opens at the touch of a button, revealing a set of crystal champagne flutes. The car’s paint changes hues at different angles, adding to its allure.
What Makes It Stand Out?
The Arcadia Droptail is more than a car—it’s a work of art. Built over four years to meet a specific client’s demands, it features a unique grille with vanes tilted toward the top, dubbed the ‘Templebrow’ overhang by Rolls-Royce. With additions like a starlight headliner and a custom sound system, it’s a class apart. Alex Innes, Rolls-Royce’s Coachbuild Design Head, called it the most complex project ever undertaken at the Goodwood factory.
Leading the Luxury Car Race
With the Arcadia Droptail, Rolls-Royce has set a new standard in the luxury car market. The La Rose Noire Droptail, launched in August 2023 for $30 million, previously held the title of the world’s most expensive car. Inspired by France’s Black Baccara rose, it featured the same V12 engine. However, the Arcadia Droptail has eclipsed it with its superior features and price.
Who Owns This Masterpiece?
The buyers of such ultra-luxury Rolls-Royce cars often remain anonymous. Reports suggest that owners of similar models include billionaires from industries like pearls or celebrities like Jay-Z and Beyoncé, who own a Rolls-Royce Boat Tail. The Arcadia Droptail’s owner is rumored to be an Asian billionaire who took delivery in Singapore.
