Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir eliminated six terrorists in two meticulously planned operations in Kelar and Tral, showcasing unparalleled coordination and resolve to dismantle the terror network in the region.

New Delhi: Acting on precise intelligence, security forces executed two high-stakes operations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian and Tral regions, neutralizing six terrorists within 48 hours, announced V K Birdi, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, on Friday. The operations, involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF, were launched to counter heightened terror activities, with a renewed focus on disrupting the terror ecosystem in the Kashmir Valley.

    Kelar Operation: Swift and Decisive
On May 12, intelligence confirmed the presence of a terrorist group in the higher reaches of Kelar, Shopian. By May 13, security forces detected movement and engaged the terrorists, who opened fire. The forces neutralized three terrorists in a swift response, showcasing their tactical prowess. Major General Dhananjay Joshi, GOC Victor Force, highlighted the operation’s success, attributing it to actionable intelligence and seamless coordination among the forces, ensuring no collateral damage.

Tral Encounter: Protecting Civilians Amid Chaos
In Tral, a border village became the battleground as terrorists took refuge in civilian homes, complicating the operation. As security forces established a cordon, the terrorists fired, prompting a cautious response to safeguard villagers. After evacuating civilians, the forces neutralized three terrorists, including Shahid Kuttay, a key figure linked to attacks on a German tourist and terror funding, underscoring the operation’s strategic importance.

    Operation Sindoor: A Broader Crackdown
The operations follow the devastating Pahalgam attack that killed 26 people, prompting India to launch Operation Sindoor. This series of precision strikes targeted terror hubs in Pakistan and PoK, including Jaish-e-Mohammed’s Bahawalpur base and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s Muridke camp, eliminating nearly 100 operatives. The Tral and Kelar successes reflect India’s intensified resolve to eradicate terrorism, both domestically and across borders, ensuring national security.

These operations reaffirm India’s unyielding commitment to neutralizing terror threats, protecting citizens, and fostering peace in Jammu and Kashmir through precision, coordination, and relentless pursuit of justice.
