India’s Zero-Tolerance Stance
Bhuj, Gujarat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a stern message to Pakistan during a rally in Bhuj, Gujarat, on May 26, 2025, urging its citizens to reject terrorism or face India’s decisive retaliation. “Pakistan ko atanki bimari se mukt karne ke liye, Pakistan ki awaam ko aage aana hoga. Sukh chain ki zindagi jiyo, roti khao, warna meri goli to hai hi,” he said, translating to, “To end terrorism, Pakistan’s people must step forward. Live peacefully, eat your bread, or else my bullet is ready.” This statement came in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. Modi criticized Pakistan’s inaction, stating, “I waited 15 days for Pakistan to act, but terrorism is their bread and butter.”
Operation Sindoor: A Bold Retaliation
Following the Pahalgam attack, India launched Operation Sindoor on May 6-7, targeting nine terror infrastructures across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoJK). The Indian Air Force struck key hubs of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba, reportedly killing over 100 terrorists. On May 9, when Pakistan attempted to target civilians, Indian forces retaliated, destroying Pakistani airbases. Modi emphasized, “Operation Sindoor is a mission to save humanity and end terrorism. Whoever makes India bleed will face the same fate.” The operation showcased India’s zero-tolerance policy, with Modi noting, “Pakistan’s airbases are still in the ICU, and their white flag proves our forces’ valor.”
Contrasting Visions: Tourism vs. Terrorism
Modi contrasted India’s progress with Pakistan’s struggles, highlighting India’s rise as the world’s fourth-largest economy, surpassing Japan. “India believes in tourism, which connects nations, but Pakistan treats terrorism as tourism, endangering the world,” he said. He urged Pakistan’s youth to question their government’s path, asking, “What have you achieved? Your army and government have made terrorism a business, ruining your future.” The Prime Minister’s remarks underscored the stark contrast between India’s development-driven vision and Pakistan’s reliance on terror as a state tool.
Gujarat’s Development Leap
During the rally, Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for projects worth over ₹53,400 crore, including green energy initiatives, port upgrades at Kandla, and infrastructure developments in Kutch. He highlighted Bhuj’s resilience, recalling the 1971 war when local women rebuilt a runway in 72 hours, thwarting Pakistan’s plans. Modi also shared that these women gifted him a sindoor plant, to be planted at the PM House as a symbol of courage. The presence of Colonel Taiwanese Qureshi’s family, who briefed on Operation Sindoor, added emotional weight to the event.
Public Sentiment and Regional Context
Posts on X reflect polarized reactions. Supporters like @Its_Me_Jasraj praised Modi’s “fearless leadership,” while critics like @JalilJilani called the rhetoric “inflammatory,” arguing it undermines peace. The speech follows heightened tensions after Operation Sindoor, with Pakistan reportedly seeking a ceasefire. Modi’s visit to Gujarat, his first since the operation, also marked 11 years in office, blending security resolve with a vision for regional growth.
