New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, chairing the 10th Governing Council meeting of Niti Aayog on May 24, 2025, called for the Centre and states to collaborate as “Team India” to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The meeting, themed ‘Viksit Rajya for Viksit Bharat@2047,’ emphasized accelerating development through unified efforts.
Centre-State Synergy for Development
PM Modi stressed that no goal is unattainable if the Union government and states work cohesively. “We have to increase the speed of development. If the Centre and all the States come together like Team India, no goal is impossible,” he said, as quoted in a Niti Aayog post on X. The Prime Minister highlighted that a developed India hinges on the progress of every state, aligning with the aspirations of 140 crore citizens.
First Major Meet Post-Operation Sindoor
The meeting, attended by state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and Union ministers, marked the first significant gathering of this scale since Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. Niti Aayog, chaired by PM Modi, serves as a platform to foster cooperative federalism, with its Governing Council driving policy coordination. A 2024 Niti Aayog report underscored that states contributing to 80% of India’s GDP must align with national development goals to realize Viksit Bharat.
Vision for 2047
PM Modi reiterated that Viksit Bharat is a collective goal, urging states to prioritize infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive growth. The council discussed strategies to enhance state-level contributions to India’s development, focusing on economic reforms and sustainable development to meet the 2047 vision.
