New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation at 8 PM today, his first speech since the ceasefire that ended four days of Pakistani hostilities. This follows Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, in response to the brutal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, including 24 Indian tourists, a Nepali tourist, and a local pony handler.
Operation Sindoor’s Strategic Strike: The Pahalgam attack, executed by a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy, killed 26 after religious profiling, with a heroic pony handler dying to save a tourist. India’s response, Operation Sindoor, targeted nine terror bases in Pakistan and PoK, destroying Lashkar and Jaish-e-Mohammed headquarters. Over 100 terrorists, including key figures like Mohammed Yusuf Azhar, linked to the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, were eliminated, delivering a severe blow to terror networks.
Pakistan’s Retaliation and India’s Precision: Pakistan countered with drone and missile attacks along the Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Punjab borders, breaching prior ceasefire agreements. India’s calibrated response targeted Pakistani military installations, including radar sites in Lahore and Gujranwala, and key bases like Rafiqui and Chaklala. The Indian Air Force’s precision strikes hit command centers and ammunition depots, reinforcing Operation Sindoor’s objectives while minimizing collateral damage.
Ceasefire and Future Stance: On Saturday, a ceasefire was confirmed after Pakistan’s top military officer contacted India, with DGMOs finalizing the agreement. India rejected claims of U.S. mediation, emphasizing bilateral resolution. The government warned that any future terror acts by Pakistan would be treated as war, signaling a robust stance. Modi’s address is expected to outline India’s next steps in ensuring national security.
As India stands firm, PM Modi’s address will likely reaffirm the nation’s resolve against terrorism, detailing Operation Sindoor’s success and warning adversaries of severe consequences for future provocations.
