In a brazen attempt to destabilize India’s digital infrastructure, Pakistan-backed hacker groups launched a series of failed cyber-attacks on Thursday, targeting platforms linked to children, veterans, and welfare services. Indian cybersecurity agencies swiftly neutralized the threats, exposing Pakistan’s escalating frustration and unethical cyber tactics.

New Delhi: May 02, 2025: Failed Cyber Onslaught on Sensitive Platforms: Pakistan-sponsored hacker groups, identified as “Cyber Group HOAX1337” and “National Cyber Crew,” attempted to deface websites of Army Public School (APS) Nagrota and Sunjuwan. Their malicious intent included posting inflammatory content mocking victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives. Additionally, a website catering to ex-servicemen’s healthcare was defaced, targeting vulnerable societal segments.

    Broad Spectrum of Targets
The cyber-attacks extended beyond educational platforms, with hackers targeting the Army Institute of Hotel Management and Indian Air Force veterans’ services. On April 29, the group “IOK Hacker” (Internet of Khilafah) unsuccessfully attempted to breach multiple welfare and educational platforms after failing to penetrate critical national networks. Intelligence agencies reported propaganda attacks on APS Srinagar and APS Ranikhet, with APS Srinagar also facing a distributed-denial-of-service (DDoS) attack.

    Swift Response by Indian Authorities
Indian cybersecurity teams acted promptly, isolating compromised systems and ensuring no operational or classified data was breached. All targeted platforms have been restored with enhanced security measures. A senior cybersecurity officer, speaking anonymously to ANI, condemned the attacks, stating, “Targeting platforms for children and veterans reflects a new low in Pakistan’s cyber warfare tactics.”

    Escalating Tensions Along the LoC
The cyber provocations coincide with heightened tensions along the Line of Control (LoC). For the eighth consecutive day, the Pakistan Army engaged in unprovoked small arms firing targeting Indian positions in Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Naushera, and Akhnoor sectors. Indian troops responded proportionately, maintaining a calibrated stance.

    Pahalgam Terror Attack Context
The cyber-attacks reference the tragic April 22 Pahalgam attack, where heavily armed terrorists killed 26 people, including 25 tourists, on the Baisaran grassland. The hacker groups’ attempts to exploit this tragedy underscore their intent to inflame tensions.
