‘New India Will Respond Strongly’: Yogi Adityanath on Pahalgam Terror Attack

Lakhimpur Kheri, April 26, 2025: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the recent Pahalgam terror attack, asserting that “New India” will deliver a fitting response to such acts of violence. Speaking at a rally in Lakhimpur Kheri, he reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and anarchy, emphasizing India’s commitment to security, welfare, and development.

“Yeh naya Bharat kisi ko chhedta nahin, lekin agar koi chhedega toh usko chhodega bhi nahin (New India doesn’t provoke, but won’t spare if provoked),” Adityanath said, expressing condolences to the victims’ families. He highlighted the April 22 attack in Jammu & Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives, including Shubham Dwivedi from Kanpur, and injured several others.

Adityanath met Dwivedi’s family on Thursday to offer condolences, calling the attack a “cowardly act” and a sign that “terrorism is on its last breath.” He expressed confidence in the Central government’s response, noting Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s inspection of the affected areas. “The Centre’s actions will put the final nail in terrorism’s coffin,” he said.

The attack, which killed 25 Indians and one Nepali national, prompted the Union government to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, cancel visas for Pakistani nationals, and close the Attari border check post to pressure Pakistan against cross-border terrorism.
