Synopsis: Indian Army foiled Pakistan’s drone and missile attack on the Golden Temple, deploying advanced air defense systems like Akash and L-70 guns. The operation showcased India’s military prowess, protecting sacred sites and civilian areas from enemy aggression.

New Delhi: After India’s airstrike on terrorist bases in Pakistan and PoK on May 6-7, 2025, Pakistan retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Jammu and Kashmir. The Indian Army’s robust air defense systems, including the Akash missile system and L-70 air defense guns, neutralized the threat, ensuring no damage to civilian or religious sites. On Monday, the Army demonstrated its defensive capabilities, highlighting how it safeguarded the Golden Temple and Punjab’s cities.

Golden Temple Targeted by Pakistan’s Aerial Assault
Major General Karthik C Sheshadri, GOC of 15 Infantry Division, revealed Pakistan’s plan to strike civilian and religious sites, with the Golden Temple as the primary target. On May 8, Pakistan launched drones and long-range missiles during pre-dawn hours. Anticipating the attack, the Indian Army deployed modern air defense systems, forming an impenetrable shield over the Golden Temple. Every drone and missile was intercepted, ensuring the sacred site remained untouched, showcasing the Army’s vigilance and precision.

Pakistan’s Tactics Neutralized by Indian Superiority
Sheshadri noted that Pakistan, unable to confront India conventionally, resorted to supporting terrorist infiltrations. The Indian Army destroyed Pakistani military posts in vulnerable border areas using superior tactics and weaponry. Only 10% of India’s air defense ammunition was used to neutralize advanced drones, including Turkish-origin YIHA-III and Songar models. The Army’s intelligence network and quick reaction teams swiftly eliminated any infiltrators, thwarting Pakistan’s attempts to destabilize the region.

Conclusion: The Indian Army’s decisive action protected the Golden Temple and Punjab from Pakistan’s malicious attack. With advanced technology and unwavering resolve, India demonstrated its military dominance, ensuring the safety of sacred and civilian spaces.
