Global Indian Diaspora Protests Pahalgam Terror Attack, Demands Action Against Terrorism

In response to the brutal Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, mostly Hindu tourists, the Indian diaspora across the globe has united in protest. From New York to Paris, London to Sydney, demonstrators have rallied outside consulates, in public squares, and on city streets, condemning terrorism and urging the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for its alleged role in supporting terror groups like The Resistance Front, a Lashkar-e-Taiba affiliate.

    By our correspondent, New Delhi:

New York: Outrage at Pakistan Consulate and Times Square
In New York, members of the Indian diaspora gathered outside the Pakistan Consulate and at Times Square on April 27, 2025, to protest the Pahalgam massacre. Waving Indian tricolours, they held banners declaring, “Declare Islamic Republic of Pakistan a Terrorist State – Pahalgam Hindu Massacre.” A poignant banner displayed photos of the 26 victims, urging global media outlets like CNN, NBC, NYT, WAPO, and the UN to “share their names, show their faces.” Slogans such as “Hindu Lives Matter,” “End Terrorism Now,” and “Enough is Enough” echoed their demand for justice and an end to Pakistan’s alleged support for terrorism.

    Paris and Frankfurt: European Solidarity
In Paris, the Indian community assembled at Place du Trocadero near the Eiffel Tower on April 27, 2025, accusing Pakistan of harboring terrorists responsible for the Jammu and Kashmir attack. Holding placards and delivering passionate speeches, they called on France, the EU, and the UN to impose sanctions on nations sponsoring terrorism. Meanwhile, in Frankfurt, over 300 diaspora members marched from Hauptbahnhof to Dom Römer, chanting against Pakistan-based terror groups and displaying banners demanding an end to cross-border violence. Both protests emphasized global accountability and solidarity with the victims’ families.

    London: Countering Denial with Truth
On April 27, 2025, London’s Indian diaspora, including a Hindu from Jammu and Kashmir, countered a Pakistani protest outside the Indian High Commission. They condemned the sectarian nature of the Pahalgam attack, noting the attackers’ demands for victims to disclose their religion, a tactic seen in prior incidents like Kankot and Dangri. The demonstrators aimed to expose Pakistan’s role in regional terrorism, holding signs and chanting slogans to demand justice and highlight the targeted killing of Hindus.

Australia and Beyond: Vigils and Unity
In Australia, the Indian community organized vigils and protests in Melbourne and Sydney. On April 26, 2025, Melbourne’s Federation Square hosted a gathering where participants honored the victims and expressed unity, while in Sydney, the Indian tricolor flew at Martin Place as the community sang the national anthem. Similar protests occurred in Denmark, the UK, and multiple U.S. cities, with the diaspora condemning Pakistan as a terrorism hub and urging global leaders to act decisively to end such violence.

    A Unified Global Call
These global protests reflect the Indian diaspora’s resolve to combat terrorism and demand accountability. Despite fears of social or professional repercussions, ordinary community members are breaking their silence to honor victims and expose state-sponsored terrorism. The demonstrations, spanning continents, underscore a collective plea for international policymakers to address conflict-driven violence, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, and to take concrete steps against nations supporting terror groups.
