Autopsy reveals brutal details of Raja Raghuvanshi’s death, intensifying scrutiny on wife Sonam’s alleged role in the Meghalaya honeymoon tragedy.

Shillong, Meghalaya – On June 9, 2025, the autopsy of Raja Raghuvanshi, an Indore businessman murdered during his honeymoon, has uncovered shocking details, revealing two fatal head injuries likely caused by a sharp weapon. The chilling findings come as his wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, faces arrest for allegedly orchestrating the crime, marking a grim turn in the case that began with the couple’s disappearance on May 23.

    Autopsy Insights and Crime Details
The Meghalaya Special Investigation Team (SIT) Chief, Herbert Pyniaid Kharkongor, confirmed the autopsy indicated severe trauma, suggesting a deliberate and violent attack. Raja’s body, discovered on June 2 in a gorge beneath Weisawdong Falls, has raised questions about the circumstances of his death, with police suspecting premeditation. The SIT’s ongoing probe aims to establish the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal injuries.

    Sonam’s Arrest and Investigation
Sonam, who went missing after Raja’s body was found, surrendered to Uttar Pradesh police at Nandganj station on Monday. A senior UP police official reported she was located near a dhaba on the Varanasi-Ghazipur road, appearing distressed. Kharkongor stated that an SIT team is en route to Ghazipur to formally arrest her and secure transit remand to Shillong, alongside three other suspects already detained, with a fourth still at large.

    Police Narrative and Family Tensions
The SIT, formed with seasoned officers, uncovered patterns suggesting strained relations between Raja and Sonam, though motives remain under investigation. Kharkongor highlighted the challenges of terrain and weather during the initial search, crediting the team’s persistence for the breakthrough. The arrest of four individuals, including Sonam, underscores a multi-state effort involving Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh police.

    Unresolved Questions
While police allege Sonam hired killers, her family contests the narrative, demanding a CBI probe and claiming she was abducted. The case’s complexity, spanning three states, has fueled public debate, with the autopsy’s revelation of a sharp weapon adding urgency to uncover the full truth behind this honeymoon horror.
