Neemuch (Madhya Pradesh): Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday stated that Naxalism will be wiped out from the country by March 31, 2026, with the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and the CRPF playing a critical role in this mission.
CRPF and CoBRA at the Forefront
Shah highlighted the significant contribution of the CRPF and its elite CoBRA unit (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) in anti-Naxal operations. “The menace of Naxalism will end in the country by March 31, 2026, as stated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the CAPF and CRPF, especially its CoBRA unit, will play a major role in it,” he said.
Tribute and Parade at CRPF’s 86th Raising Day
The Home Minister made these remarks during the 86th Raising Day celebrations of the CRPF held in Neemuch. He also inspected the ceremonial parade and paid tributes to the martyrs of the CRPF.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav was also present at the event.
CRPF Day: A Legacy of Valor
CRPF Day is officially celebrated on March 19 each year, marking the day in 1950 when the national flag was presented to the force by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the then Home Minister of India.
However, this year, the parade took place on April 17 as part of extended celebrations, as per an official release.
Historical Significance of Neemuch
Neemuch holds historical value for the force as it was the birthplace of the Crown Representative Police formed on July 27, 1939 during British rule. This unit was later renamed as the Central Reserve Police Force by Sardar Patel on December 28, 1949.
CRPF’s Multifaceted Role in National Security
The CRPF has been instrumental across several fronts including:
