New Delhi: The arrest of Amar Ujala Digital journalist Adarsh Jha and a new news channel Bharat 24 anchor journalist Shazia Nisar, who are accused of extorting Rs 65 crore, and the recovery of Rs 34.5 lakh from this anchor has added another dent to the already crippled branch of Godi Media. It is said that one crore rupees have been found in the account of this news anchor and she runs expensive, luxury cars worth crores of rupees.

The question is, where did this anchor, who gets a salary of thousands of rupees, get so much wealth from? The news is also that she was threatening not only her channel colleagues but also her boss and channel owner Jagdish Chandra for years. After all, what was the compulsion of the channel that the owner and management kept tolerating such bad behavior of a mere subordinate? And when the matter went beyond the neck to the nose, ears and eyes, then action had to be taken against her.

However, the police is trying to find answers to all these questions. It is reported that Shazia Nisar was trying to extort 65 crores from her channel owner. Currently, both the media persons are in police custody on 14 days police remand. And it is a matter of investigation that what was the role of both the accused in extortion and blackmailing and how many people have they made their victims till now and also whether these people are a part of any organized gang?

Is it possible that this beauty queen anchor has trapped her channel owner in her honey trap? Otherwise what was the reason for tolerating her unjustified tantrums for years? Was her own organization also involved in her blackmailing business? Well, now it remains to be seen how much courage the police can show in the investigation or whether it settles the matter by giving and taking.

It is not our intention to tarnish anyone’s image by accusing anyone, but it is a matter of shame that the media has tarnished its image by openly doing extortion business. This one case has once again proved that the press media, which was once a means of public service, truth-finding and national service, has now become a toy in the hands of goons, miscreants, criminals and blackmailers.
