Rajnath Singh’s Assurance on National Security
New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, speaking at the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in New Delhi on May 4, 2025, emphasized his duty to safeguard India’s borders and deliver a strong response to any aggressors. “It is my responsibility to give a befitting reply to those who dare to attack our country,” he stated. Highlighting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, he added, “With his perseverance, I assure you all, whatever you wish for will be done.” His remarks come amid heightened expectations of military action following the recent Pahalgam terror attack.

Ferozepur Cantonment Prepares for Blackout Rehearsal
In response to escalating tensions along the India-Pakistan border, Ferozepur Cantonment in Punjab, near the border, issued a notification for a blackout rehearsal on May 4, 2025, from 9:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The notice urged residents to ensure security during the total blackout, stating, “This rehearsal aims to ensure preparedness and effectiveness in implementing blackout procedures during prevailing war threats.” Sources confirmed that such drills have been conducted previously, reflecting ongoing efforts to bolster readiness.

Escalating Military Activities in the Region
Following the Pahalgam attack, both India and Pakistan have intensified military activities. Pakistan issued multiple “Nav Area” warnings for naval exercises in the Arabian Sea and NOTAMs restricting air traffic near the border, with the latest notices expiring on May 4, 2025. Meanwhile, the Indian Navy conducted missile firings, and both nations issued “area warnings” for exercises in the Arabian Sea, with zones just 85 nautical miles apart, signaling heightened alertness.
