Pakistan in Panic After India’s Hard-Hitting Response to Pahalgam Attack
Escalating Tensions in South Asia
Following the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which killed 26 people, India has launched a series of retaliatory measures, sending Pakistan’s military into a state of alarm. Sources reveal that Pakistan’s Army Chief General Asim Munir has sent his family abroad, with several officers relocating their families to the UK and New Jersey via private aircraft. The attack, linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba proxy The Resistance Front, has sparked unified outrage across India, with all political parties backing the central government’s response.
India’s actions began on April 24 with a missile test from INS Surat in the Arabian Sea, successfully destroying a target. As Pakistan initiated firing drills in the same region, India deployed the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant near Karwar, equipped with MiG-29K jets and attack helicopters. On April 25, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi visited Srinagar to review the situation, joined by Lieutenant General MV Suchindra Kumar of the Northern Command.
Diplomatically, India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, halted movement at the Attari-Wagah border, and canceled visa services for Pakistani nationals, giving them 48 hours to leave. Home Minister Amit Shah coordinated with state Chief Ministers to enforce the deadline. These steps signal India’s intent to isolate Pakistan, widely seen as a terrorism hub, while avoiding a broader conflict that might benefit Munir amid Pakistan’s internal crises.
