SP Leader Slams Government Over Delay in Retribution Against Pakistan, Questions PM’s Priorities
Intro: A Call for Action Amid Rising Frustration
In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, 2025, which claimed 26 lives, Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former MP Dr. S.T. Hasan has publicly criticized the Indian government for its delayed response against Pakistan. Accusing the government of inaction, Hasan also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s absence from the crisis-hit region, intensifying the political debate over India’s national security strategy.
By New Delhi Post Desk, New Delhi:
The controversy surrounding a headless poster of Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted by the Congress party’s official X handle has taken a new turn. Dr. S.T. Hasan, a prominent SP leader, has now joined the fray, slamming the central government for its failure to retaliate against Pakistan a week after the Pahalgam attack. He also criticized Modi for attending an event in Bihar instead of visiting the attack site or convening an all-party meeting, raising serious questions about the government’s priorities during a national crisis.
Why the Delay in Retribution Against Pakistan?
Dr. Hasan expressed his frustration, stating, “It’s been a week since the Pahalgam attack, and we’re still waiting for justice for our spilled blood. Nothing concrete has happened—no water has been stopped, just diplomatic talks. How long must the nation endure such attacks?” He further questioned the government’s inaction despite evidence of Pakistan’s involvement: “If you’ve proven Pakistan’s hand in this, why hasn’t there been a direct attack? Why haven’t the terrorists’ houses been demolished? Why hasn’t their blood been spilled in return for the innocent lives they took?” Highlighting India’s military strength—eight times that of Pakistan, with nuclear capabilities, a vast population, and a robust army, navy, and air force—Hasan demanded to know why the response has been so delayed.
Government’s Response Deemed Inadequate
Hasan also pointed to lapses in border security, asking, “How did those terrorists cross the border into our country? Who is responsible for this failure?” He urged the government to act decisively, stating, “The whole of India stands shoulder to shoulder with you, so there’s no need to worry. You must show the world that India, the fourth-largest power, neither fears nor bows to anyone.” He criticized Modi’s absence, saying, “On that day, the PM should have been at an all-party meeting, not in Bihar. He should have visited Pahalgam to console the victims and wipe their tears. Politics isn’t the priority right now—our nation’s survival is.”
SP Stands with Government, Demands Stronger Action
Despite his criticism, Dr. Hasan affirmed the SP’s support for the government during this crisis, echoing sentiments shared by Congress and Rahul Gandhi. However, he deemed the government’s measures against Pakistan—such as suspending the Indus Waters Treaty and closing the Attari border—insufficient. “The steps taken so far are not enough. The Indian Army has the nation’s full support, and we expect a response so strong that even their future generations will remember it,” he said, calling for a decisive retaliation to restore national pride and security.
